Drought cuts supplies of in-demand merino wool

Driven by Chinese wool mills and Italian garment makers, merino wool in Australia – which provides 90 percent of the world’s exported fine wool – is enjoying something of a global renaissance. But, as Sonia Legg reports, in Australia’s east, where the bulk of the country’s wool is produced, a drought is cutting supplies even as demand increases.
